Remove from the oven when Shrinky Dink plastic has been laying flat for 30 seconds. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and place your designs on top. Use colored pencils on the rough side of the film. Line up the shrink film over your template and tape it down so it does not move. We found the best temperature to cook plastic shrink film is 325°F for 1-3 minutes.

Make sure to not touch the shrinky dinks with your hand to flatten – they are very hot. You can also put a layer of parchment paper on top of the Shrinky Dink designs to help to keep them flat. We used colored pencils to color in our design and it worked perfectly. If the shrink plastic you’re working with only has smooth shiny surfaces, you can use light sandpaper to gently scuff the surface if you’re using colored pencils. It should only take a few seconds to get it to flatten out nicely.
